Behind-The-DevCamp-Scenes

On a recent Developer Movement Virtual DevCamp, the online audience requested a behind the scenes tour of how we put together a Virtual Event. Before embarking on hosting virtual events, I, too, was always curious as to how it worked, what were all of the moving pieces, how everything came together, etc. so Paul Laberge (my co-host for the camp) and I figured what the heck, let’s do it! We did the last session of the day as a combined live Q&A, where we were taking questions from the live chat and a behind-the-scenes tour. You’ll notice as you watch, we keep flipping back and forth between what you see (the final product) and what we see (while actually in the studio).

hank You

I know we said it a million times in the actual video, but thank you to all of you who joined me for 1, 2, 3, or all of the DevCamps. It was my pleasure to host you and hope that you a) got some valuable information out of them, b) had a fun time watching and chatting (remember, they are all available on-demand if you missed any of them), and c) go out and build those apps, submit them to the Windows and Windows Phone Stores, submit them to the Developer Movement, and get some awesome rewards.

The Developer Movement

In case you haven’t had a chance to read some of the older posts here on the Canadian Developer Connection, Developer Movement is all about publishing apps! To find out more about Developer Movement.

If you need the quick gist – Developer Movement is Canada’s app building rewards program. As you build Windows Store and/or Windows Phone apps, optionally backed by Windows Azure services, you earn points that you can use towards rewards such as gizmos and gadgets, home theatre systems, laptops, and others. With the above in mind, with one app idea, publishing an app for Windows Store and Windows Phone can earn you 10,000 points (plus additional points for additional features. See the points breakdown for more information.) If you’re not already a member of the Developer Movement, join today! (You actually start earning reward points simply by signing up.)
